Okay Toastado, Eric (mitsulvr) did some checking for you, and journeyman welders start off with $38/hr. If you have your B-pressure certificate, the going rate is $50+. Also, I have your resume, gonna try to go through it today for you. Do you have access MS office?

I have Openoffice (I am a Linux user) but i can read MS and save as MS file types. I have two certs coming next month but they are CAT specific. So $38/hr is that good enough for a small family to live off of?

Journeyman welders with the B-pressure ticket can pretty much make as much as they want. if you run your own welding truck you can make upwards of $150/hr as a contractor

$38 an hour is roughly $80K per year.
24 pay periods per year will give you $3300 gross per paycheck.
You will pay $1002 in taxes. $537 federal, $252 provincial, $156 in pension plan and $57 in employment insurance.
Which will leave you $2298 every 2 weeks.
And don't forget, houses are still over $350K for a 2 storey 2 car garage.

I like those numbers, maybe I'd move south since everything is pretty much going down the crapshoot up here. The only light at the end of the tunnel is that it's started snowing and Saturday night was a pleasant drive in a blizzard in the middle of nowhere with 4psi in the tires and the heater set just so. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> How much does an electrician make over there and is anyone of you bunch man enough to follow me into the white. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

is anyone of you bunch man enough to follow me into the white. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> I've got heated seats which i'll need considering i rarely see temps below 50 degrees, but once a year i do a high mountian camping trip and the lowest it's gotten was -7 at daybreak. Its a pretty good gig here to. tons of work everyone is hiring and there is not nearly enough skilled labor here. That goes for welders too.
