There is a potential for the draglink or pitman hitting the leafpack on compression...but that can be avoided by using a straight pitman arm and proper positioning of the box. I just did one for a buddy last weekend and I'll post some pics here soon. As you reminded me, Stace, it was a royal PITA drilling those 2 one inch holes through the frame....I actually chose to torch those 2 holes and it was still a pain. Welding out of position was no joy either <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
PS---the owner of the truck is amazed at the improvement in steering....it steers easier and much less steering slop. Less bump steer also. He noticed the nose dive.

Where do you source a straight pitman arm?

Does this flat pitman arm make easier to run Hi-Steer crossover steering setups, like Marlin's, with little (or none) spring lift? Or is there still a leaf spring interference problem that I recall hearing about. -- Matt

I imagine you could cut off the back end of the driver's side steering knuckle arm after this crossover upgrade. -- Matt

This should be made into a tech article, or at least a thread unto itself.
Did you end up not re-using the torque arm? -- Matt

Torque rod was left off...it looked like it might hit the draglink with full compression on the driver side. I thought they were left off anyways with cross-over conversions, in general.

Aqualu Industries Inc. in Kelowna, British Columbia use to make a dropped forged arm like that. I was just on their page and did not see them offered anymore.
I used to make arms like that about 12 years ago same basic principle just made a bit different. I was going to use one on mine when I did the SAS 12 years ago but Marlin came out with a high steer so I went with it instead. I'll be darn....they still do. But the $439 price tag is a bit out of line <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> I made 2 of them up.... installed one on the above truck and gave him the other as a spare. http://www.aqualu.com/aqualu_industries_incorporated_009.htm![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/kenfrancisco/steeringYarm.jpg)

At over $400.00 I hope that they are forged or carved from a billet. -- Matt
