Getting the Wheeling Fever
Adam....I got a D44 from a 1979 k10 half ton. But the vin on the truck says 2wd. so someone put the d44 under this truck. the d44 i got was on a half ton 2wd truck, and it had 8 lug hubs which are from a 3/4 chevy. so i went to the junk yard again and found a d44 with 6 lugs from a 1/2 ton. which i was supposed to get the first time. so i solved the problem. i have both front ends now and ones 8 lug and ones 6 lug. and i found brimbo brakes that will fit a 85 chevy pick up, they should fit nicely. Anyways, i have an extra front end if anyone you know has a t100 that they want to do a sas on. anyways thanks for all the info and about the engine questions, is there anyway around the supercharger except for getting a later model t100 lol.

HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF A TOYOTA 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION? I AM CURIOUS. I KNOW THEY HAD ONE IN A CELICA BUT IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE ONE IN A T-100? ALSO ON THE TRD WEB SITE THEY ONLY CARRY A SUPERCHARGER FOR 1997 - 1998 T-100'S. BUT IT SAYS THEY ARE FOR THE 3.4 L ENGINE. I ASSUME THIS SUPERCHARGER WILL FIT IN MY 95 T-100. THANKS FOR ANY RESPONSE.

Yes, toyota does make a 6 speed manual trans. they had them in the '93-'98 supra, and in the new tacomas (R155 2wd and the R155F for the 4wd). i havent heard of anyone swapping one in, but it sure would be interesting to see. i'm not one hundred percent sure its possible...

about the supercharger, im pretty sure that you have a 3.0 v-6. you cant put the supercharger on this motor, as the intake is to the opposite side, and there are a load of vacuum lines on the 3.0 manifold that the 3.4 doesnt have.

also, why didnt you just post a new topic?

Leave the rear alone. There's no need to swap it out if you're running a 1/2ton front. The widths match up closely enough, and the rear is already stronger than a front 44. If you really felt the need to do more surgery at the same time you're replacing the front then you could do a full float conversion on the rear.

I have never heard anyone say a t-100 rear is stronger than a D44 front end from a chevy. What makes the toyota stronger than the D44? I am trying learn as much as I can. You all have been helpful thanks.

If you can find one, look at both the gearsets and you will see why. The yotas is HUGE compared to the D44..

This is a Getrag transmission, it's very similar to the one in my 5 series.

I would not recommend it.

ANyway if the ratios are similar to the R150 the 6th gear will be useless in this truck.

Adam- I think the inner bearing difference you speak of is the difference between the "big bearing" and "small bearing" d44 spindles and inner bearings. 10-bolt = "big bearing" later style d44.

Ah-ha. Thanks for the clarification Erik. I just know when I buggered my spindle getting the spindle bearing out it took two trips to the parts yard to get the right replacement.

While we're near the subject, do you know what years were the thick tube centers?

Just wait til someone tells you a Toyota birfield is as strong or stronger than a Spicer 297x ujoint.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have 3 chevy Dana 44 front axles. All are from chevy. All are 6 lug and I have no idea what the year and make each one came from. I also have a ford f-250 rear dana 60 that i bought a 6 lug conversion kit for. I wondering if i should put a dana 44 in front and the 60 in the rear. Or should i put the ford D60 in the rear and go look for a chevy D60 for the front, or just stick with a dana44 in front. Anyways what is the best combo d60's front and back, or d44 in front with d60 in back. I am just curious what people opinions are when it comes to strength of a D60 compared to a D44 in the front of a 95 t-100. Any info on the subject would be great thanks.
I thought i would throw in there i have 2 chevy d44 fronts that are cleaned and sprayed and ready to go. If anyone is interested let me know. joeyscarpellino@hotmail.com is my email.

That's why I said "short answer." I don't think this guy is up for anything like that.

Um, actually the D44 has an 8.5" ring gear and the Toyota has an 8".

Would I swap out the T100 rear for a D44 though? Definitely NOT.

If I were to go through the hassle of swapping out the rear axle, it would have to be for a *significant* upgrade. 35 spline D60, etc.
