i've seen sites on the net that claims they used a starter motor for diy go karts and such. now i stumbled on this http://www.oasismfg.com/Home.html

it looks like a starter or winchmotor, custom fitted to turn a york or similar compressor.

now i donw want (or cant) add anything else to the engne because of space constraints, so i was wondering if i could use a starter motor to turn the compressor so i can mount it anywhere i want. the problem i can think of is that the starter motor might burn out pretty quick if i run it 2mins at a time. so how do the go kart guys do it? im assuming theyjust dont run it for a minute or two.

Go to a local starter shop & tell them what you want to do. There are continuous duty motors that can handle it.
