Sh!t can the spacers. Shocks, put some KYB's on it. Y'all are stuck on KBY's. Under $40 each, and they perform great. I dont know what the price is now. OME are nice but are twice as much. What do you suggest? The Monroes I had for 2 days were either in the wrong box or 100% pieces of sh*t. My gen 2 coils have not fallen out either and yes I do have the SR rear end. But I dont see what a wider axle and disc brakes will do to help the coil from falling out. I dont know how high gen 2 coils will lift a SWB though.

The KYB's are valved for the montero (Come OEM when new) . They are the most inexpensive shocks of monotube design that you'll find. I tried Monroe on my old SR..what a joke those were...Johns 90 Has Pro comps and they are like mush as well. So yea, KYB Gas-a-just are the most bang for your buck that you'll find in mu opinion. Bilsteins are good as well as the KYB Monomax. Stick with a Monotube high pressure shock unless you enjoy excessive body lean.
I still havent tested my gen II coils under high articulation so I cant say if they'll fall out or not..If so I'll go to LWB gen I coils or the SWB coils with a 2"spacer.

I am making a retraction in my fat finger'dness i wrote 4" spacer i ment to write 2" so for getting anyone excited. i defiently do not enjoy my shocks on the front, the prev. owner put them on, so all i know is they are yellow and soft!! one thing i was pondering is how hard would it be to replace the rear coil springs with leaf springs? it at all possible. I noticed that in soft sand and heavy mud the front tires love to kick around is there anything i can do ( steering stabalizer) for it? thanks for all your help everyone. i will have to get a picture of the little guy asap. hope you enjoy hood scoops!!!

I flexed my genII coils in Betsy II and III, and never had a problem (I first suggested this swap in about 99 or so, and then proceeded to run them hard from 99 till 05 in a shorty and then in a limo GenI. They are still in Betsy III today, and have never moved out of place. They also improved the handling of both trucks, since they are variable rate instead of constant springs.

So your saying to take the rear coil springs from a gen II mont. and put them in my GEN I mont? What is the years of GEN II. also is there any good engine tweeks for the 89 Raider? it no longer has a clutch fan and has oil and trans cooler. with the dual oil filter she holds a bit over 8quarts of oil.

I've been reading aroudn this site and i love alot the information its giving me unfortunatly i am not great with all the lango. I am looking to replacing my stock rear springs do to buttoming out and i would like to put on some heavy duty shocks i dont mind a stiff ride, my chair has shocks anyways i just hate the worry of smacking my front and ass around every time i hit a bump.

Dean Gen2s were from 92-2000 in the USA Gen 1 Long Wheel Base (4door) coil springs might be good for your Short Wheel Base (2 door). Why do you want to replace the coils with leaf springs? To me it would be a bad move. Unless you wanted to put a completely different axle under it. If you want some lift, it is easy to just put different coils in it. What exactly are your goals with your truck? Hardcore rock crawler? Daily driver, weekend wheeler?

I'd like to say 70-80% road with the 20% mud/snow and sand Not much of a rock crawler i'm orgianlly from Ohio so we are snow/mud/and flood people this is my first 4x4 ever so i'm not that strong in this area i am more of an engine guy anyways. relacing the coils would be great, and i'm trying to get a little more suspension lift out of the front. and stiffin everything up all around.

I've just put a rebuilt v6 in my raider and i have 31's on it now i am looking for shocks and suspension tweeks i can do to set it up for the rougher terrian i'm new the 4wheel'n. so i am looking for anything i can do that wont require alot of modifications.
V6. dual oil filter kit with oil cooler Trans cooler 4" wheel spacers dual elec. fans Rear coil springs: Gen II coils (any year) Front torsion bars: R&R w/ either used mitsu units or if you can find them, sway away, or Iron Man or even ARB. Shocks: KYB unless you like spending money then consider other monotube designs like Justice noted. Bigger Tires: 32, 33 are fine w/ a body or suspension lift. 34, 35 are potential tires also w/ the lift & gearing changes (find 5.29 R&P gears in Australia or Japan) Tranny cooler: Stock if you have an auto tranny. 4" wheel spacers... WTH for? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> No offense but who's guiding you with this suggested change??
