GenI tie rods are weak, everybody knows this.
My SWB 89 3.0 has different T-bars than the 2.6 89.
Are'nt just the 2.6 t bar weaker?

I can't find and have never seen any SWB 3.0 t bars in a yard. yikes

iirc tie rod ends break w larger tires (33's) and hard use but not as often if your steering components are in good condition.

More tie rods. Just carry a spare.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Concur, carry a spare from the Junkyard(or new they're not too expensive). Been wheeling with 33's since 98 and havent broken one yet so I wouldn't be too paranoid about it.

Also, as far I I can tell gen I and II tie rods are exactly the same.

didnt frankr do an experiment with the genI lwb coils in his swb and get net 2" lift in the rear (the same as putting genII coils in a genI lwb)? btw, i flexed the living crap out of my genII coils down in moab last spring and never had a problem. been running them for some 5 years now and no issues.

Yes - you and joehope sent me the various Gen1 LWB coils - thanks again! They work fine for about 1.75" of lift..... and no issues with the coils dropping out as with some cases of Gen2 coils installed in a Gen1 SWB.

After any of these coil lifts, it's wise to check for propshaft vibration since there's a difference in spline engagement length at the tailshaft.
