Getting the Wheeling Fever
Alright a few weeks ago I was driving and my power unit and coil went out. So I took it in to the shop and we replaced it but with 205k on it it was time for some other work. I got a full tune up plus timing belt, water pump, and all new engine seal. Awesome, so now the truck doesnt leak any more however it feels like its off timing. Sometimes it;ll idle rough, sometimes there will be a dead spot when driving it, and its slow to shift sometimes.

The shop told me to bring it back to have them work on it some more (for free) but I just thing it needs some tweaking and I can do it myself. Downside is I dont have a timing light and it may just be that. Last night I drove it around and would adjust the distributor position and then get out and check it again. It would get better in some spots but the same in others.

I dont know if its an unrelated problem or something dumb.

Anyway any local Atlanta people willing to meet up and look at it one day to see if I can have it straightened up before the weekend to let the shop work on it. I'm willing to take a day off work and come meet any local Montero expert.

Well if he is senile I would hate to feel like I was wasting his time by going up there. By the time I can get up to G-ville would be this weekend when I would have it back at the shop anyway. I was hoping I can find somebody closer that I could meet up for half an hour, check timing, and pick their brain what they think is wrong. Thanks for the referrel though

I dont know if they did or not. I believe they just left the distributor where it was and just changed the rotor and cap. The truck runs rich as $&*@ and now the battery is dead after driving it home from work. I'm just fed up. I can't even get it back to the shop to have them fix it.

Local ATL people with a timing light and jumper cables around?

I REALLY dont want to drive the timebomb (RX7) to work every day.

Ok now I'm thinking it may be my ecu though mine looks CLEAN. Reading some threads with ecu problems sounds like what my truck has also. The bank fired injectors having the ecu failling making one side run rich and one side run normal. Now I have to find a working one.
