Good call checking the temp of the rotors: 99% of the population (and 65% of mechanics) would never have thought to check it.

A guy came into our shop once complaining of smoke from the driver's front. After making sure that the pads weren't actively on fire, we clocked an over 300* temp difference from left to right. He didn't want to wait for us to get the parts because he had to go pick up his kid, so he drove out the same way he came in.

Never heard what happened, but a Darwin prize may be in order.
