Another issue - if you still feel that your brakes are not performing as well as they should, look at what type of brake pads were installed. There's a world of difference between cheap generic brake pads & quality high-performance brake pads. I've had good experience with the EBC pads for trucks/SUVs on my 95 SR, but there may be other good brands out there.

Keep in mind that brake pads are a trade off between stopping power & pad life, with dust & noise issues closely related. Towards one extreme is the high performance brake pad which is a relatively soft compound & can stop amazingly well, but won't last more than 10K miles on the street and will likely be noisy & dusty. The other extreme is the cheap pads installed by many "lifetime guaranteed brakes" shops, which are a very hard compound & designed to last as long as possible with braking performance being secondary to longevity. The average off-the-shelf parts store brake pads tend to be compounded more towards the long-life side of the balance, and will generally stop an average vehicle acceptably, but are not the ticket if you are looking to have above-average stopping power.
