my Jeeps <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />

Hi Guys!

Either my new JK (Wrangler) was built on a monday or the new Jeeps are not as tough as they used to be!

Since I picked mine up in May, I've only put 5000km on it but it's going back to the dealer next week for the sixth time.

Nothing serious so far, but it makes you think 'how long' before something critical poops the bed!

So far, the heater control cable has snapped, the throttle body has cracked, a leaking shock, faulty tire pressure sensors and a front fender has come loose and is rattling around. Not to mention the leaking hard top and the soft top that is 2 inches shorter on one side than another and the missing nuts on the door hinges!

And I haven't even taken it offroad yet!

I don't remember my sporty having issues like this, at least not in the first year!

1st check about warr. in taken off road.

2nd check about lemon laws in Canada. They might just have to replace your jeep with a new one.

maybe they had enough scrap parts laying around to make yours <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

I checked out laws in Canada on lemons depends on the area, you might have to made lemonaid, <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> just add a little sugar to the jeep. look at it this way by the time the warr. runs out you might just have a new jeep with all the repairs done. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Just to make your feel a little better, I had more trouble The first year with my Kia then the last 12 years combined. I blamed it on the first model year gremlins. I have had other new vehicles with far fewer problems. We've had an 89 Ranger with the only warantee work an alignment, a 92 Grand-am GT that was never in the shop, a 2000 ZR2 Blazer (the worst new vehicle I've had) with lots of recalls. a 2003 Focus that was never in the shop, and a 2005 F150 that has only had the computer reflashed in 50,000 miles. Anyway I hope your Jeep gets better, my Kia sure did.

Good luck, Dennis

Sucks to be you!!!

Oh Ya, you bought a J <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />P instead of keeping the Sportage.

no, just giving you <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />.

The guy around the corner from me has a new one too and he is reporting similar problems. All fixed under warranty though.

Jeep expects you to take it off road and have all this happen there so they can say you caused it and it will not be covered under warranty. That's the excuse he got when he took it to get repaired. He said here's the keys then, you keep it while I go get my lawyer. The dealer said they would fix it this time under warranty but not to expect it in the future. He informed them in not to kind of words that this is what the warranty is for.

it blows my mind that a company that markets there vehicles as serious off road machines can try and pull the rug out on the warranty for taking it off roading.

i have a buddy that has been battling non stop with his toyota dealership every time something needs to be replaced on warranty.

DEFBOY35,

Jeep is banking on their name to sale vehicles. If you've noticed, for a while almost all of their vehicles had the "Trail Rated" badge on them. Now only a select few have them. Now they are producing soft roaders that don't even have a transfer case but are being purchased because people want a "Jeep". Can't blame them for going where the money is to stay in business though.

Sometimes the views of the local dealers don't reflect the views of the company as a whole and we as consumers get stuck in the middle.

, i should have been more specific, as in i know a few people that have various jeeps such as tj's and jk's which are marketed as being off road vehicles, as well as toyotas marketing of the fj cruiser, and know many people with these vehicles that have had troubles getting there warranty work done due to the fact that they were off roaded.

most of them with a little bit of a fight managed to get there warranty work done.

GM and Chrysler are in talks for a merger. Your next Jeep might have a Chevy sticker on it.
