Given the HP of the stock(even mod'd) 22r(e), a 2-3% gain in HP would be unnoticed, and you could spend the money for one on other things, like gas and grub for a wheeling trip. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Getting the Wheeling Fever
First time I heard of a crank scraper, I thought it was some kind of drug paraphernalia. I installed one on my 22RE motorhome, which is brutalized by long, steep mountain pass and National Forest roads while under heavy load. Tossed the idea around with EB before I got it, and he was mildly supportive of the idea. Much research convinced me it was worth the $50.

Oil pressure increased on those hard uphill runs. Engine seemed to have a little more jock in its strap. The guy at Ishihara-Johnson is a cool dude. I'm happy I did it. If nothing else, the engine ain't blown up yet.

1986 Sunrader Motorhome 22RE $200
1987 4Runner 22RE (under construction) $80.77
1989 4Runner 22RE, 6" lift, 35" Dunlop mudders $420
All rescued from sitting to death, all auto, 'cuz I'm too dumb to drive a standard.

Think I'm gonna get one. I sold my 30' airstreem, but I am keeping my eye open for another trailer and hauling 3000+ pounds up the grapevine usually means staying wound out and this is where it would really help.
