I re-verified: Page 8-21, Transfer Case, 5W30.

There are some spots with different info for the regular or DI engine (showing the different locations), there is only a short, single entry for the transfer case.

In the appendix under "T" there is no entry for TOD or Torque.

I'm going to call the dealer.

Body Damage is Cool
Just FYI: my Axiom uses the same engine as yours, DI, and the same Aisin transmission. I have TOD transfer case. There is a possibility that they were installing the same TC either...

There are three lights on the TORQUE-ON-DEMAND display; they represent:

No bars illuminated: approximately 100% rear-wheel drive;
0% front-wheel drive.

One bar illuminated: approximately 85% rear-wheel drive;
15% front-wheel drive.

Two bars illuminated: approximately 70% rear-wheel drive;
30% front-wheel drive.

Three bars illuminated: approximately 50% rear-wheel drive;
50% front-wheel drive.

I don't have the TOD display either, just 2WD/4WD low/high.

I have to run some errands and stop by the bicycle and motorcycle shops near the dealership tomrrow. I'll drop by on the way.

I have talked the family into a little camping (light four-wheeling) over Thanksgiving. I would hate to be alone out in the middle of nowhere with thin ATF fluid where 5w30 was designed to be.

While no one appears to have changed it themselves, thanks to everyone who chimed in.

I called the Isuzu Service dept and they pulled up the receipt. They acknowledge that it is a mistake, the Rodeo takes 5w30, not ATF fluid.

Now they they don't know if it's a paperwork mistake or if they put the wrong fluid in my car.

I will take the Rodeo in either Friday afternoon or Saturday and they will check out what's in the transfer case and make it right.

Went to the dealer, they said the receipt was wrong and the correct oil was in the transfer case. They even offered to let me come look at it.

I told them it was all right. The transfer case was covered by warranty by Isuzu/that dealership, and if it was the wrong fluid, I'd be back for a free one.

Everything was fine, case closed, and thanks for your help.

Off the subject a little bit, but I am not sure it would hurt anything to run Dextron ATF where 5w-30 motor oil is called for. When I was a teenager in the 70's I worked in a full service Mobil station with a mechanic who ran nothing but ATF in his engine. In 72 he was still driving his 67 Ford pickup that he said he had always used ATF in the engine, no leaks (unusual for the time) and ran smooth. He said the ATF was higher detergent and he changed it every 6,000 miles. I was young, and the engine's dip stick did have red oil when I checked it.

'94, and '00 Amigos and '00, 01 Rodeos. Rodeo springs and aftermarket 'hard top on 94. Aisin hubs OME 919's on the 2000 Amigo. 2000 and 2001 Rodeos have OME 912's and Aisin. Smoother ride with the OME 919's???
