Hi all
I lurk around here once in a while, just not alot of time to go on the net these days. Just wanted to pass on some info for any 2.8 owners. First of all, be prepared to do the front seal on the diesel pump, which means the whole thing needs to get ripped out to replace the $20.00 seal. You will now this needs to get replaced if your Pajero stalls out in the morning after driving a few hundred feet. This can also easily be checked be removing the fuel filter, if the seal is going, filter will be full of oil. My brother picked his up at the end of July, and by the second day it was showing symptons already. I got my wife a shorty with a low 57,000 km., absolutely mint, it went about a month here and then it started. We always use a diesel additive, so I am pretty sure they are all on the verge of being like this no matter what the km. or service history. Looked up on POCUK and this pretty well seems to be the norm in the UK too, if it has not happened it is going to soon.
Secondly, since we have had the pumps out twice now I took a good look at the frost plugs. 50mm for any one that wants to know. I remember reading somebody talking about a Temro screw in blockheater. Acording to the Temro website this plug would go into the left rear of the block. This hole is used to feed the heater core, so this will not work on the JDM Pajeros.
Thirdly, Filters are the same as the 2.5. Baldwin BD28 for oil and Baldwin BF7534 for Fuel. Have replaced both already. Both available at Acklands Grainger. Air filter looks the same too, did not replace it yet since it is new.
Hope this helps.
