do you want pictures or not..
what you want to do will work... if, you don't burn off all the NEGATIVE OR GROUND connections.. the positives only have to be 2 ga.. so what if they warm up.. so what if your alt only puts out 60 amps.. any time you winch it is going to come off the battery.
an electrical connection is made up of two things.
power.
and return.. the ground wire.
you are looking at only the power side.. the same amps have to return... duh... the ground side.. are you getting it yet???
you can hook up a biazzion gage wire to your winch, but with out a ground it will not work....
that is the dual hot that I am am talking about. dual hot ground that is.. toyota's are back wards. like the positive is ground and ground is hot. but they are still a negative ground.. but the switches and every ground is back wards.
they are a negative ground with a negative switch.
where as everything we are used to is a negative ground, negative ground and turn on and off the positive. toyota's turn on and off the ground.
I'm sorry, after a lot of thinking I still don't understand you concern.
As I said, I will ground the winch to the engine, which is grounded to the battery. Of ocurse I'll use the same heavy gauge that the positives use so it all matches.
What is the problem with this? Are you worried about the other things (pretty much everything else) which is also tied to the engine? Because I don't see how that's really any different from a normal setup, because even there still, everything is tied to the engine AND the battery. the beauty of DC.
Of course thsi may be all irrelevant, b/c I discovered the starter wire I used is 4 Ga, not sufficient, as is (quite surprisingly) ALL of the wire supplied w/ the REP8000. I really would expect Ramsey to provide better. W/ the cost of copper wire these days, redoing everything may be cost prohibitive.
