Many places will offer siping for a small additional fee. I know Discount Tire in Phoenix does.

Right. I've thought about looking into for my BFG ATs, as they see more winter use than OR trails. Any idea how much the fee runs?

No, I've never really had the need here in Phoenix...
Can't be more than like $20/tire, though, or I'd get out an Exact-o knife and do it myself (yeah, right...).

Any idea how much the fee runs? i think i paid an additional $60ish when i pulled the trigger on the new rubber 5 years ago. best money i ever spent... the rear tires are still like new, but the front have been a little chewed up from the t-bar crank. ill never buy tires again without having them siped... i was led to believe that siping would give me an additional 40% to tread life and 2 sets later id say its pretty close.

I was informed that these tires are, in fact, built by Michelin using their technology and are solid.

Siping certanly does help. For the best results make sure you are starting with a tire that has a winter rubber compound.
From what I have read it does matter.
