Not surprisingly, I had an alternator thats been making a horrifically horrible ticking noise for some time now. Its been keeping up with charging duties, so I haven't been eager to shell out the cash for a replacement, but the blower fan hasn't been working either. I remember because I think I had this happen before... the blower fan draws its load straight off the L-termanial of the alternator, so its possible for the alternator to still charge perfectly normally, but the L-termanial not work thus no blower fan. So i figured when I finally got around to swapping the alternator, the blower fan would return.

Welp, i picked up a new reman'd alternator from Advance Autoparts yesterday before heading out on a wheelin trip (didn't want it to finally give up the ghost and leave me stranded). But much to my surprise, the blower fan did not return. I checked fuses and swapped relays, but nothing.

My question is, how likely is it that the new reman'd alternator came with a bad L-termanial port? or am I missing something in the diagnosis here? I ask this because I think in the scheme of the many alternators I've had, i had this happen once before where I picked up a bad reman job and had to immediately go swap it out.

Does this make sense? or is there more I should be checking?
