I have got a noisy speedometer. last night I tried to reach up behind the dash and pull off the cable but, in hopes that a little graphite on the cable would fix it. but i could not get the the cable off. My book does not give any pictures or diagrams of how to take apart the dash or anything close to it.

what is the easiest way to get at this and fix it? does anyone have a dash diagram so I at least can see what I am dealing with up under there?

Look at the cowling around the instrument panel and you'll find all your screws.

looks like about 6 screws around the panel. I guess i thought that would just remove the cover glass on the panel. so your saying that it would all come out and let me get at the back of the speedometer? Ill give it a try tonight.

thanks

I lubed the crap out of the cable and my noise went away. you dont have to take the glass off. but watch out, it's a real PIA getting the cable out!

Mine was not the cable, but the speedo itself. I replaced the cable with no improvement. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
