- All vehicles have a sending unit to tell the dash how much gas is in the tank. - All of course have fuel pumps of some sort. (Modern vehicles that is.) - Some fuel pumps are in the tank. - Some have seperate in-tank pumps and sending units. - Mitsu in-tank units are combined sending+pump??? - The stealer only sells the whole pump/unit. New is ~$385! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
Your problem sounds like the PO cut the fuel lines that pass through the bulkhead cover of the unit. I would not be inclined to trust a 1/4" stub even with FI clamps.
Your choices then are:
1. Get a new unit from the stealer. 2. Try for a JY unit. Should be good as long as not rusted to heck. (Note, there is a Pull-A-Part near me with a 91 that I plan on visiting this weekend.) 3. You can repair the one you have by fitting it with new lines. I had a past 92 where the same lines rusted out, leaving me in a similar boat. Search my user for a thread. Also, there was a subsequent thread from another member on the same. (I'll try and search too...)
I fixed my 92 at the time because it was my DD, and I did not have any local JY options, and there was no way I could afford the $385. It ran fine for a year until I sold it. The guy who bought it was local and I never heard from him on a problem. That was five years ago now.
