ive got a vibration under the drivers side floor when driving. i also get a clunking noise when making hard right turns and its starting to get noticable on hard left turns. is this a sign of bad trans mount?
also ive always had play in my steering box that i could never get rid of even with the adjustment screw, just tonight i noticed a slight whining sound when i turn the wheel. i know a new box from a durango will fix the problem and be stronger but will it also get rid of the whine or is that from the pump itself?

You are aware there are two "U-joints" between the steering wheel and the box, aren't you? These joints cause the PLAY in the wheel more often than the box does. Big JIm

they're tight and the shaft moves going into the box, but the shaft coming out does not so im guessing theres play between the gears. it has 93,000 miles, its had 33's for a while and used to have 35's

AND you have used the adjusting screw to take the slack out of the box? Big Jim

Check your power steering fluid re: whining noise.

yes i adjusted it a tiny bit at a time and all i noticed was the steering wheel got harder to turn and harder to return back after a turn. it did not remove any slop at all which made me think that theres either excessive play or something broken. i can move the steering wheel from the 12oclock position to about the 10 and 2 position before the wheels start to move. the fluid is full. the whining is not that loud but i just started hearing it last night when the radio was off

any ideas on what could be causing the vibration?

Check around the neighborhood for signs listing a "missing cat"... You may have found it. Big Jim

Check the tranny mount by crawling under there and giving the rear driveshaft a good shake back and forth. I've had mine go on the CJ and it would let out a good thunk on turns and accelleration. Could also be u-joints going. Josh

The clunk when turning the wheel could be worn tie rod ends.
