Does the ADD introduce any mechanical weakness to the axle that is not there in a non-ADD axle? I was not thinking of actuators, vacuum lines, etc., just the actual drive system.

When I had mine apart, the ADD shaft was smaller than the non-ADD unit. I'm thinking the non-add is the stronger setup of the two.


and guess where mine broke?

the axle tapers down. actually, it just shrinks, not actually a gradual taper.

with the ADD out of the way, there are at least 2 links in the chain eliminated.

you also need a new seal.

The axles are 27 spline, the ADD stub is 26 spline, and they do break there sometimes.

As has been mentioned, everything is swappable between the two.
