After reading CapnCrunch's post on brake failure, I think a post on brake upgrades would be fitting.

I just upgraded to a 35 inch tire (pictures will be coming soon enough) and I think a lot of people upgrade tires without upgrading brakes...it does take more force to have the same stopping power with a larger tire.
