 heater problem blower motor has died

Blower has quit working. Checked conections and there is 12 volts to the motor but does not work. First question, Is the motor for the rear blower compatable with the front? They want more than a small fortune for a new motor. If it is not compatable what other options or tricks is there to bring the old one back to life?

In past experience, it's usually the brushes worn or the bearing locked up. You've got nothing to lose. So, just gingerly disassemble it and check it out. If it spins free by hand, try polishing the stator and soldering in new brushes. If not, replace the bearing.
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

There is a switched resistor pack that allows for the various motor speeds. If you have 12v to the resistor pack, it doesn't mean that the motor is seeing voltage because the resistors may be blown.
The circuit that controls the blower also includes the switch on the dash.
I don't have access to the schematic right now, but you need to trace the switch and resistor circuit to see where the fault is before replacing the motor.

I checked the voltage with the key on and moved the switch to on and have 12V at the plug in all speeds. Removed the motor, connected directly to battery and nothing. Can it still be a circut?

Before it stopped working it would occasionaly have a rattling or clicking sound that changed with speed. Sounded like fan blades striking something. Also when it would not start, after a slap on the motor it would run.

Still not sure how to remove motor from the mounting plate.

Looks like ~15 for the fan motor. Don't know what shipping would be to you in Germany. You in the service? If so, I know people here who are. Any way to deliver via Uncle Sam?

I know my blower motor resistor was bad when I got my Raider. I replaced it for ~$30 US. You can just do a visual inspection of it -- if it's bad you'll see the little coils of wire melted.

The part number on the motor is: 162500-2312. The shipping cannot be that expensive. No longer conncetions for shipping. After 911 everything has changed here even for a ex Marine. I have a dual heating system. The rear heater is located under the rear seat. There is no A/C installed. That is the only thing I do not like about the vehicle. I come from Fl and love my A/C.
