Getting the Wheeling Fever

i am in the process of changing my timing belt and water pump when i stumbled onto a problem. i printed out the guide from the kia site and went through it only to find that after it says to move the tensioner to the side, and lock it there, then remove the timing belt. The problem i face is i am unable to just remove the belt. The crankshaft pulley is blocking it from coming free. It is off all the other pullies, just not this one. Do i need to remove the crankshaft pulley or the large bolt in the middle? The manual says something about a "SST(ring gear brake)". Where is it and how do i use it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

My manual does not say to remove the crank pullies but looking ot mine there is no way to get the belt off without removing them. Remove the 6 small bolts and use a pully puller to get the pully. I think the large center bolt only hold the timing gear on but if the pulliies does not come off with just the six small bolts out try it with the large bolt loose.
Hope this helps, Dennis

Correct, remove the 6 small bolts on the crank pulley and then tap the pulley with a hammer and it will drop off. The center crank bolt does not need to be removed.

Axe,
When I did mine I had to remove the crank bolt too. I couldn't get the pully off by just removing the 6 bolts. It was a real pain in the butt because when I put it back on you have to torque it to 120 psi and this is more than enough to turn the engine over. I also had to put some loc-tite on it to keep it from backing out when the engine was running.
