That's also without a core and only a 6 month warranty for 'new'. Stay away from their JDM stuff.

I stick with Sunwest Automotive out of the Spokane area myself, if not locally rebuilding.

I have seen a lot of disgruntled posts about on different BBS's about Attarco engines and their customer service when trying to resolve issues.

You can rebuild it for less than 1/2 that amount, and have something that isn't going to crap out on you down the road.

What is wrong w/your current engine?

Here is what caught my attention in their ad.

Toyota 3RZ-FE 2.7L Brand New Engine
$1,550.00

"TOYOTA 3RZ-FE BRAND NEW ENGINE 4 Cyl. 2.7L APPLICATIONS: (95-04) Tacoma (94-98) T100 (96-00) 4Runner This is a BRAND NEW long block Toyota 3RZ-FE 2.7L engine. Not rebuilt, but brand new. Engine comes as pictured. No core required."

Just wondering if indeed it is brand new, if it is manufactured by Toy or by someone else. I would imagine this same engine would be $5000 + at a dealership with their normal 4-500% parts markup.

Probably too good to be true. I'd like to see what they have to say though.

There's nothing wrong with my current engines but I'm in the market for a newer (99-02) 2.7 powered pickup and being the cheap b*****d I am, will probably buy one with a million miles on it

I don't think it is new from Toyota, it should cost a lot more than that, that is unless of course Attarco is going out of business.

There was a discussion about this a few months ago, about a company claiming to have NEW 22re and other Toy motors. I can't remember teh name but I think it was a different company.
Out of curiosity, I called and talked to them... guy said flat out, yes, the yare NEW castings, but no, they aren't made by Toyota. He wouldn't (couldn't?) give me teh name of the manufacturer, but after some squeezing did admit they were made in China... my assumption is somebody bought off the rights to the casting plans and is re-making them.
He did insist that all the moving components "were made in the USA"...

If 2.7's that are 'new' cost that much, I'd be running away. Right now I'm seeing 2.7's in the junkyards going for $9-1200 with under 170K on them.

With any luck, Toyota will pull the mills out of the Tacos they're buying up for the rotten frame warranty extension (NOT a recall; see sticky in Taco section) instead of sending the trucks in their entirety to the crusher.

Well I called Attarco and they would only confirm that the engines were assembled in "Asia" using aftermarket parts.

In other words cast in China using Chinese made parts, a.k.a. shiny POS.
