Removed the rear shaft again, in 2wd there is a slight vibration that can be felt-moreso when the wheels are on the ground.
What I did find: -Felt vibration at 3000rpm in both P, N and D with no rear shaft in. Minute but there.
-4wd on (only front shafts in) felt a vibration from the get go, more rpm the worse it is. At about 3000rpm its very noticeably felt-quite bad really.
-Drivers side tire wobbles, it cannot be the tire/wheel both are brand new and I balanced it myself-it balanced fine and had no wobble.
-Pass side may have a bad upper ball joint, dunno how its possible since I replaced it more than once to be sure. The wheel has play tho up and down.
-All body mounts look bad. [color:"orange"]But especially the 2 front mounts under the cab. And a mount that connects to the drivers side part of the differential up front is literally flaking apart. [/color]
-Also the drivers side bump stops seem to be pushed up quite a bit, im sure with a torch i can hea thtem up enough to move then perhaps weld them for extra strength. That wouldnt cause an issue unless I bottom out alot tho.
-The front diff appears to be leaking, not bad but its there.
So I wonder, is it perhaps the stinking front moving underload with the mounts...

My front diff mounts aren't in perfect shape either.
They cost $85-$125 each from the dealer <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Well the mount is 100% trash, I can peel what remains of the rubber off.

You need to fix those wheel bearings.

Ya think its wheel bearings? Well, I have no hum noises from them like one would.
Honestly I think ill try wheel bearings up front and check the balljoints further and replace the mounts on everything.

It doesn't have to be noisy.
Test moving the wheel again, but get a helper to do it. You get on the other side of the wheel with a light and watch the steering knuckle and other parts. If you decide you have to take it apart, do this check again after you remove the locking hub or driveplate, whichever you have.
The diff bushings are important but should not be tasked with preventing serious vibrations. They just want to hold the thing up, keep the angles reasonable, keep load shocks off the frame. It is not supposed to vibrate a lot. On the cars, when these wear out, the diff just shifts around when the load changes, makes some thunking sounds and causes the driveline to feel a little loose.
You might be able to take the rear diff mount off and stuff pieces of tire sidewall in it, fill it with urethane glue, etc. Take care of the wheel first.

Gonna see about the bearings and getting that mount. I get a discount at the dealer anyways thru the shop.
Im pretty sure my body mounts also should NOT have a 1 inch gap between the bottom of the bushing and metal either.

I lost part of a blade on a flex fan on an older Camaro one time and it made the engine vibrate. Drove me nuts trying to find the source. Did you check your cooling fan? Winkel

Yea, its fine. Engine revved in P or N this problem doesnt occur.
I have concluded its probably front wheel bearings (due to the ball joints being replaced 2x-thought the 1st set was defective due to play) and play exists in the wheels up front and the front cv shafts, it could be the driveshaft, lastly a bushing that actually holds the diff in place.
I am preparing the cash to outlay for all the parts and now all I need is time. If I cant fix it the truck is getting sold, sadly as nice as it still is I cant stand driving it this way. If such does happen im buying an 05-06 tundra or an older F250.

So some more fiddling and I have some new answers: 1. It could be bad body mounts b/c the vibe is way less than it was since I got new tires/rims. However the body mounts right under the cab by the doors have so much play its not funny, i can pry them all over and they have an inch gap between the bottom of the frame mount and where the bottom of the bolt is.. I wonder if the body is moved in that spot, cause otherwise how could the gap exist if the rubber isnt bad it seems?
2. The cv axles could be bent, but I see no evidence of wobbling when they go.
3. Steering knuckles could be bent on the shaft the cv rides in from the force of the frontend slamming when I went on some whoops by accident.
4. Bushings that go right into the diff area..
5. Front wheel bearings, unlikely b/c I dont have play.
Oh and for those thinking of upgrading to 265/75/16, I shoulda got 265/70's tho, wow the power loss..not a big one but its noticable, I cant spin the tires if I wanted to now..
I am gonna get new bushings for the mounts, but if the bolts are frigged or floor is pushed up, im screwed. does anyone know where i could get the proper bolts for this stuff, or should i remove one and get a grade 5 or better to replace it?
