Have you tried the dealer? I bought a windshield gasket for mine just a couple of weeks ago.

SteveN,
Thanks for the offer !!! Let me verify that the size of the large sunroof is the same between Gen I & Gen II LWB, then I'll get back to you. Hopefully the rubber seal will be interchangeable between the years.
Any tips/suggestions on R&R of the sunroof/seal?
Thanks, Kela

I'll try & get P&P price for you anyway, if the sunroof is the same then have you considered a replacement from a newer truck from a pick-n-pull?? The complete glass & seal
Removal of the sunroof is easy, pull back the blind remove the 4 plastic covers & the 2 nuts under each cover. Get a freind to help lift it out.
I'll try & post some pics, but my home PC is running in 'SAFE MODE' only f*#;%$

Hi Steve,
PM sent. Pics of the R&R of your sunroof, would be very much appreciated !!!
Just needed the rubber seal, as the glass is in good shape. But, if a local yard has both glass/rubber for a good price, then that might be something to consider.
Lurked on this board for many years, reading all the tech & service posts. As all Gen I's are getting a little bit long in the tooth, would be nice to see some articles, input from people who have done body work + body 'maintenance/repair/replace' on their beloved Gen I.
Thanks again, kela

Does any one have first hand experience replacing the sunroof seal on their Gen I that can share tips/suggestions? I can't on a GenI but can on my GenII. I had to replace mine due to rust on the seal lip. The design is poor as it traps water/salt in the lip. I had to wire brush, sand and apply rust converter and primer/paint before replacing the seal. Use silicone to glue the seal down and have some spring clamps ready to hold it while the silicone cures. Pay particular attention to gluing the two ends together. I also found that I needed to re-glue the inner roof header in spots. As a warning to others, if you see any lifting of the seal on the outside chances are it is rust and should be looked at asap.

pcc, thanks for the heads up !
No rust around my sunroof or seal, as far as I can tell. The rubber seal though is another story, deteriorated badly, need to replace. ~ 20 y.o. rubber just about at it's life's end !!! All Gen I owner's doing routine maintenance on their rigs: take a look at all of your rubber (i.e. hoses, belts, bushings, window seals/gaskets, etc., etc.).
