We went out to Wally tonight to do some quick shopping (approx. 13mi. round trip)and proceeded to return home.
1st thing we notice is the tink(clink)sound has now grown to a poping sound. The sound could best be described as when you intend to open a soad can but the tab slips.
So I got under the jeep with a work shop lite and checked the back U-Joints.....Nadda! zip! Zero! Nothing out of place and no signs of damage or distress.
Went to the front ones at the wheels, same thing.
Checked the front shaft to the diff...Other then a slight bit of grease noticebale at the seam where the caps go on, nothing!
<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />When not in 4x4 the front shaft would'nt have trouqe applied too it, would it?(i.e. handle in jeep set for 2wd) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Even made sure to spray the rear brake cable assy. , plate, hardware between the rear floor hump. It looked pretty good.
Checked visualy and then physically for loose hardware to parts. Nadda!
It is only happening as stated before. At a stop light accelerate in 1st gear and I hear the pop. Reverse I hear the pop when shifting back too 1st. Only time it happens.
Now what? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Sorry for the novel.
