I have an '89 Toyota 4x4 Pickup 4 cyl. 5 spd. extended cab. The engine was getting tired so I found a complete rebuilt '93 2.4 to swap in. The guy I bought the engine from unplugged the wiring harness from the computer and left the complete harness attached to the engine, all I would need to do is unplug my harness and plug and go with his............... The question I have is whether the '93 harness is compatable with my '89 computer and other wiring? I don't want to plug it in and fry something or have to do it over again. Thanks for the answers ahead of time, they are appreciated.

IIIRC, the '92-'94 injectors have a higher impedance than the '89-'91's, so your ecu wont be able to fire them. Other than that it should be they should be the same, but you would be better off leaving the '89 harness on it, and sending out the '89's injectors to be cleaned and balanced and used with the '93 block.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

Thanks for the reply, I just checked injector part numbers for the 89 and the 93 and they both take the exact same part number. How could the impedence then be different? Thanks, Dan

the harnesses are completly differnt. i put a 94 22re into my 84. you need to custom do it.. or get a pre-made harness from offroad solutions. i opted for the ORS kit. best choice i ever made
edit.. rethinking it might work out. the 84-88 engines might be the same, i think its 89-95 that are alike

His 89 wouldn't be carbed like your '84, so yes, you had a lot more work to do than what's being addressed. Last carb in the 4wd was 87.
