THE RODEO TRANS WILL BOLT RIGHT INTO THE TROOPER ,YOU JUST WONT HAVE A DIPSTICK, YOU MAY HAVE TO USE THE MODE SW FROM THE TROOPER ON THE RODEO TRANS , IF THE RODEO HAS THE SHORT WIRING HARNESS JUST SWAP IT FOR THE ONE FROM THE TROOPER WITH THE LONG HARNESS ,ALLSO THAT ISNT A SEALED TRANS , IT JUST DOESNT HAVE A DIP STICK, YOU FILL IT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE OIL PAN,JERRY

THE MODE SW IS THE SW ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE TRANS THAT ELECTRICALLY SELECTS THE GEAR THE TRANS IS IN, IT IS BEHIND THE SHIFT LEVER THAT GOES TO THE SHIFT LINKAGE, ONE LARGE NUT AND TWO SMALL BOLTS AND IT WILL SLIDE RIGHT OFF, JUST BE SURE AND INDEX IT CORRECTLY WHEN REINSTALLED , , IT IS EASIEST TO PUT THE TRANS LEVER IN NEUTRAL AND THEN CHECK THE OTHER OPERATING POSITIONS , GENERALLY IF IT WILL ONLY START IN N OR PARK YOU ARE IN GOOD SHAPE JERRY

MODE SW...do you think that could be why the trooper is shifting funny?
it slips in 1st and second when in drive, but 3rd and and 4th seem fine.
if you manually shift thru the gears, it does not slip
i have already changed the filter and gasket,
i'm hoping to not swap these trannys if i don't have to.
any thoughts??
thanks

ABSOLUTELY COULD BE A PROBLEM, THE SW IF NOT WORKING CORRECTLY WILL CAUSE THE TRANS TO DO ALL SORTS OF ODD STUFF, BEFORE BUYING A NEW SW , WHICH IS CLOSE TO 140.00 TAKE YOUR OLD ONE OFF AND TAKE THE COVER OFF AND CLEAN IT THOROUGHLY AND THEN TRY IT AGAIN, IF IT CORRECTS THE PROB, THEN REPLACE IT . IT ISNT LONG FOR THIS WORLD , EVEN THOUGH IT MAY WORK FOR A WHILE , JERRY
