3 weeks ago the combo lights in the truck started to dim but charge light never came on. Then one day the truck struggled so bad on the last leg of battery & just died on the side of the road. Check the battery (Red Top, less than 2yrs old), it was dead, probably at around 12% or less.

CAA guy came, managed to start up the truck with booster cable...Although it was running temporally on battery, nothing on combo meter work (no rpm, no gauge). So I guessed the problem was for sure somewhere along the charging system (alternator).

Then after sitting for 3 weeks, when I tried to start the truck yesterday (now with a fully charged battery), the combo meter worked again suprisingly & alternator put out 10-11amp & 14.7v with high beam, blower fan in max, combo lights on.

Today, I've just finished put in the new brush holder ($33+tax Canadian) & I now get the same 10-11amp & 14.7v with the same high beams, blower fan in max & combo lights on.

Seriously, I don't really know what was wrong with the truck earlier. For now, I'll call it done as long as I get a consistent charging current to the battery. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
