Well, I'd like to thank everyone that replied to me here, and after yota4runna's explanation about the current being blocked somewhere beyond the coil wire, I discovered that the "mechanic" who put in new plug wires never seated one of them properly into the dist. cap. When I pulled it, there was a buildup of corrosion inside. Obviously built up over time and was barely any spark getting to that plug. Once I cleaned it (and put in a new cap/rotor kit since I had it) it now runs smooth again.
