If you only remount the front perches, then you're pulling up fwd the axle as well right? or you're saying that the pin is off-center?

Montero's are 47.25" span, and 5" longer, but to have the pin in the same spot, and only remount the front, the pin would have to be off-center correct?

Also, LR, do you remember which year YJ's you got? I'm getting ready to pull off the safari rack so I can pull it into the garage!

I was playing around with the idea of swapping springs in my Raider. I may go with a little longer spring to get some articulation out of it.

Chevy 56s are not centered, they have a offset center pin. 52s are centered.

Here are some stats of common spring swaps with Blazers and other ChevyÆs. Maybe one of these would work.


Stock Blazer front springs-
23 ¢ to center pin to 23 ¢ (47ö total), 2.5ö wide, 1- 7/16 to 1 15/16 thick (3-4 leaves)
Chevy 52ö springs, found on the back of any K5 blazer-
26ö to center pin to 26ö (52ö), 2.5ö wide, 2 1/16 thick (4 leaves)
Dodge 52ö springs, found on Ramchargers and ¢ T dodges-
24ö to center pin to 28ö (52ö), 2.5ö wide, 1 11/16 thick, usually 4 leaves
Chevy 56ö springs, found on the back of most Suburbans and ¥ T trucks-(some Burbs also have 52s)
26ö to center pin to 30ö (56ö), 2.5 wide, 2 9/16 thick, usually 6 leaves + helper
Ford 57ö springs, found on the back of 2wd F150s (mid 80s to 96)
25ö to center pin to 32ö (57ö), 2.5ö wide, 1 ¥ thick, usually 4 to 5 leaves
Ford 57ö springs, found on the back of F150s (97 later)
26 ¢ ö to center pin to 32ö (57ö), 2.5ö wide, 1 ¥ thick, usually 3 leaves
Chevy 63ö springs, found on 88 later 3/4t pickups-
32ö to center pin to 32ö (64ö actual), 2.5 wide, 3 ? thick, usually 5 leaves

Alot of the above spring packs have + or - leaves in the pack. But on average these are what I've come across.

I ended up putting longer springs front and rear on my K5. 52ös upfront and 56ös upfront. Then I decided I wanted even more articulation so I went with hybrid Ford 57ös up front and back. I may go with 63ös in the back, but I am still playing with the 57s.

Now I just have prep the SR axle for new springs instead of coils then I'll see what to put under the Raider. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've never purchased anything from them, but there site has a lot of usefull info on spring dimensions. It is missing some though (missing info on some Chevy springs, plus no info on Raiders or Monty's <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />)

well, i have Riteway Axle going to make me a custom set of springs based on the factory, but with 1.5" more lift and load capacity thanks to all the crap i've added on.

Hopefully done before Death Valley comes up!

Well the custom route didn't work out, so I had some EMU Pajero springs sent over ultimately with all the trimmings , <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> , bushings, u bolt kit, new brake line kit, etc...

Now if I can shake this darn cold, I'll feel better this weekend to put it on!

Alcan Spring in Grand Junction, CO does custom leaf springs. They usually run a bit less than $400 a set, typically have a 2 week turnaround and they're custom built to the specs that you supply them with for your vehicle. They also have a reasonably good idea how our Mitsus are built and work since they've been building springs for me and a few others for the last 10 years. They also understand 'wheeling and the demands involved. They don't just slap some specs together out of a book give 'em a bit more arch and call it good. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

I like OME. I was always really happy with their shocks and their leaf springs are decent. The springs were pretty squishy - which I liked - and they used to be reasonably cheap.

Well tomorrow I'll put em on and see what happens. Hopefully the a$$ end will lift up and will be a bit stiffer for extra load too !!!

Problem was with custom places, they all wanted $180-$200+ a piece for making them PLUS shipping.

I got the EMU's for $300 with EVERYTHING and shipping and no worries about fitting <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
