Heater motor will not come on unless unless plastic housing in front passenger legs is smacked with a hammer. Once running it will only run on high. Switch down to med or low it stays on high. If you turn it on off using the the slide lever it may or maynot come back on unless it gets a smack with a hammer. Also when on high working like it should it all of a sudden will lose rpm, then smack it again it will pick up rpm to high. I'm thinking its the resistor. Any thoughts and if so where is the resistor located. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Yep! Most likely it is the resistor.. Usually behind the glove box.
You wouldn't make a very good watch repair guy..hammere ain't for heaters or watches.

Body Damage is Cool
It is most likely either the resistor or the connector going to the resistor. Sometimes those connectors get corroded and make marginal contact. Before replacing the resistor, take off the connector, clean it as well as you can with a little WD40 and an old toothbrush, dry it off with conpressed air, and slide it on and off several times. Then see if it works OK. If not, then change the resistor.

Sounds to me like 2 seperate problems. The no low or med speed would surely be the resistor but the hammer bit sounds like bad brushes in the blower motor.
