What did you use to clean up the steel? Wire brush? sandblast?

Had to wash all the mud off first! I bet that took up the better part of the day. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> Good job on the axle.

A friend of mine had a mantra that he applied anytime he did anything to his vehicles: "If it moves, paint it. If it doesn't move, paint it a different color"
I follow a slightly different philosophy - "If you take it off, clean it up. If it still looks bad, paint it!"
I hate putting dirty parts back on a vehicle - even something like the transmission crossmember got cleaned and painted the last time I had it out - not that there's much left on it that hasn't been scratched off by rocks.

I am guilty of the same,I got ot clean it and paint it before putting it back in. Javy
