I follow a slightly different philosophy - "If you take it off, clean it up. If it still looks bad, paint it!"

I hate putting dirty parts back on a vehicle - even something like the transmission crossmember got cleaned and painted the last time I had it out - not that there's much left on it that hasn't been scratched off by rocks.


I am guilty of the same,I got ot clean it and paint it before putting it back in.
