I have a Dana 44 from a chevy that i plan on puting on my T00 here soon. I have a plan for the shock mounts and have discussed were they are going to go. Obviously a custom job. The offraod company doing the SAS for me doesnt seem to know exactly what springs to use for the front and rear. I heard there are chevy springs that work great but i have no idea which ones. My question is, has anyone bought springs for there t100 swap and if so what type and size. thank you anything is helpful.


What's the satisfaction of paying someone to do the work......jump in learn and make a lot of mistakes....

Do you have to have the truck done quickly? It might be good and fun to do it yourself. You may be able to buy all the tools for the price of having it done and then you'd have the tools when done.

If you have the time, try doing some of it yourself. I am nearly done with a 63" chevy spring swap, just waiting for a little warmth to por-15 the mounting brackets and assemble the thing. It is a very good introduction to such things and really gets your feet wet.

If you don't want to do it yourself, I agree, find another off-road company who's done it before.

Well I live in in Eureka Ca and the closest place i have heard of that has done T100 SAS is in Santa Rosa which is 4 and a half hours south of me. The place were I live is completly certified and well trained just have never done a SAS on a T100. I would love to do it myself, but i figured it would cost a lot for the tools. 17 to 22 hours is what i have been told by other that have had a SAS on a T100 done. 20 hours times 75 per hour isnt so bad for labor. Welders are extremely expensive as well. I have the axle and it has been completely re-done. so thats done. I want to buy everthing they will need before i give te truck to them. I heard Skyjacker has good K10 chevy shocks that work great but idk. Im looking for a lift on the higher end. Skyjacker has 10 inch lift leaf springs that probably would lift the truck around 8inchs. I want to fit my 39 inch tires uder my truck without a body lift. Anymore advice would be great, especially on the process of doing a SAS myself

You do realize to push those 39 inch tires your gonna need to swap gears, otherwise expect to have the power of a honda civic.

I think 35's would do you way more justice unless your looking to build a mall crawler truck or do some serious offroading (the kind where the body of your truck gets mangled on the rocks.

i have 4.88 yukon gears in the rea of my truck allready and i have 4.88 that are being put in my d44 axle.
I have 35" baja claw tires on my truck right now with a 4 inch pro comp lift crappy lift.

I am not going to run a tire bigger than 39's ever. I will most likely use a 37 inch tire. I chose 4.88 gears because i never do anything offroad except for maybe a dirt road to a ranch lol. I will drive around town thats it never any huge distances. I am doing this whole project because the T100 is my favorite truck ever made and i want it to look the way i like it. I like the way T100's look when they are lifted high. I know its impracticle but thats why its a toy to me. I want to do the SAS myself and I am trying to learn as much as possible and ask people what problems I might run into as I go.

I heard this forum has very knowledgable people on it and that you would all help with questions.

Anyways, 5.29 gears are better for what I plan on using my truck for you think? thanks

One more thing......I was looking under my T100 today to try and imagine were i was going to weld the Crossmember.

The last 2 feet of the frame seems 50% less in thickness. I was thinking that this area of the frame is obviously not made to hold the weight of the truck.

What do people do about this? ?? Just weld the crossmember there anyways or beef up the frame of the truck first somehow? Anyways any info on this would be great!! thanks!
