 intermittent starting issue

OP
Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Here recently only sometimes it doesn't want to start, it will turn over but won't fire. I do not have the original key as I had to have it re-keyed when I bought it, could it be a issue with the new key?
94 Zj custom suspension and other stuff
01 F250 tow hoe 5" exhaust

no if it starts even sometimes I don't think the key is the problem, if it always turns over the igntion is at least turning the eng over, when it is running is there any cel light on ?

If your check engine light is on at least you know the light still works

No check engine light it won't start, I thought it might be the key because if you kinda play with it a little it will start sometimes. Its getting to be a pain in the but as it usually does it when your in a hurry

so when you say it won't start you mean the key does not want to turn ? is the steering wheel locked ? if the key always turns and if you wiggel it and to does turn and start, it is the key or the Ing. switch. try a few different keys. the switch could be warn out, what is your year ?

The key turns fine, the engine will turn over but not fire up and its a 2000.

?? fuel filter, plugs, air filter, dirty throttle body, has the timing belt ever been changed ? bad gas.
on oil changes do not use fram, they do not have anti-drain back valves, you have a dry start up with them. get this wal-mart's tec-filters has a anti-drain back in them and they are 1/2 the price as the frams.
I would start with the fuel filter

Need to do the fuel filter, how could the timing belt cuase this issue?

could have jump a few teeth, anyway Kia says to replace it every 60,000 miles. how many miles are on yours ? but it still might not be your problem, if you never changed your plugs read the sticky about it, ? where do you live ? VA I checked your profile.

their is two main relay under the hood they are very bad for going out my did this would only start some time and it took me about a week to figure this out i had bought the kia for a little bit of nothing because no body eles had figured it out.
99 kia sportage 2 door tj coil spring rear spacers in front 31x10.5 sidewider tires cat exaust in the process of making a snorkel
