Getting the Wheeling Fever
Read again.

This is taken from the article. Remember, my 22R is a early model(1981-82).

1983-Æ84
In 1983 several changes were made.

3).
Some models had fuel injection, but the only difference was the addition of some extra bolt holes to the intake manifold side for the EFI intake. This head will retro-fit back to the 1981-Æ82 head, but you canÆt use the earlier head on an EFI Æ83-Æ84 model.

This says I can use the 83-84 model head on my early 22R but I can't use my early head to bolt on an EFI.

He's right. It will not bolt up. My buddy and I tried the same thing. 2 or 3 bolts are different.

The coil from the 22re will work. Alt and starter were the same wiring. After we got it running I just cut out or unhooked all the wiring that was not needed. I'm pretty sure he dropped the tank and took out the electric fuel pump and we ran the mechanical pump. He did it before I started helping him.

Thanks. I had planned to use a pressure regulater on my fuel lines but after disconecting all the EFI my electric pump isn't working. Is the computer causing this or is there a bypass to get my pump running?

Any ideas on why my fuel pump doesn't work now? It worked fine before the swap.

You'll need to do some rewiring. The fuel pump is run by the EFI. For example, there is a switch in the AFM which turns it on and off depending on if the engine is sucking air in or not.

Since you removed your EFI wiring, you'll need to come up with another way to get power to the fuel pump while the engine is supposed to be running (and not when the engine is not running!). I'd look at something more sophisticated than simply hooking it to the ignition, since you don't want the fuel pump continuing to run if the engine stalls.
