It's funny, I don't know why they say that either, however I've experienced poor performance from Bosch myself. I switched out a set of Bosch plugs AND wires with less than 10k miles on them for the factory plugs/wires because the truck was running like crap with Bosch.

However, my old '86 BMW LOVED those Bosch Platinum 4 plugs. Ran so much better with them. But they don't agree with the Toyotas too well, I guess.

I'm curious as to why Bosch plugs are so bad for toyota's. Can anyone explain or direct me to an explanation as to why they don't work well with toyota's. Just wonderin!

Not sure really why, maybe they're made inferior to NGK or Denso?

Japanese plugs work well with japanese cars, and german plugs work well with german cars.

Sparkplugs have different temperature ranges, and the Boschs are too hot. I just pulled some Autolite plugs that were completely blue along with a toasted plug wire not too long ago out of my 2.7 4Runner.

Short article, but informative

Need a Spot
I am trying to change the fuel filter on my 96 Tacoma SX and I'm having some trouble. Do I need to take the bracket completely off in order to change it? The problem I'm having with the truck, which started today, is while I was at a stop light the truck quit running. It would start up with no problem. Read a previous post and there was mention of replacing a mass air flow sensor. I'm no mechanic by any means so any help and advice is welcomed. Thanks for your time.

I got the new filter installed. A word of advice. Reinstall the original washers on the new filter if it's an aftermarket filter. The washers that came with the new filter were too small and began to leak after starting the motor. I hope this solves my problem. If not, I'll try cleaning the mass air flow sensor next.

I started getting a cel code for misfire cylinder #1. Went to a Toyota/Lexus Repair shop. First thing he asked was what kind of plugs I was using. I said Bosch. He said to get them out of there. Toyota's Denso stuff doesn't like anything but Denso or NGK Plugs. Cleared the code and replaced the plugs. No Problems since.
