I have to ask this-- is anyone being asked for their name for store ammo purchases?

I was at AAFES (Bx/Px) last week, and was asked for my name when buying ammo. My name showed up on my sales receipt.
Two weeks ago, this was not the case when I bought ammo. Called a couple stores in town; nope, they don't do this.


I asked the Q. to AAFES online about when this policy came down, and from where. Got a letter from the local AAFES manager, said it came down from HQ AFEES. This answer was prompt, but quite insufficient. Am pursuing farther, and have notified some of my local vet pals about this.

I can only spectate that AAFES customers are a pretty good control group, as only military, retirees, and dependents who are eligible card holders can shop here.

Hmmmmm.....
