If this a government sponsored store specificly for military or military related people and not open to the general public, I guess I would be less concerned than if all public stores started doing this. Especially if it was some kind of new Federal law or something.

But don't they have to take down your name and verify your military ID just to shop there anyway?

Don't get me wrong. I definately share your concern and its strange being a new policy, but if you're going to buy directly from the government at a store that specificly caters to military people, you gotta expect a bit less privacy than if you were visiting the local wal-mart.

That all said, it does sound like the plan is to go after the ammo first and not the guns. Things like taxes, registrations and tracking systems on brand new ammo and banning the sell and ownership of old ammo and self loading.
