I should try 'Annie Oakley' on the Barbie doll clerk and see if she catches on.

Edit:
Again, if you are wanting to measure public reaction before you implement something less transparent, then indeed, AAFES is a good 'retail' control group, as they're all over the US/world where we are stationed.

That'll work great because surely a jbt wouldn't steal someone else's ammo to commit a crime.

This plan came out two years ago under the current fuhrer's regime...where you been? This is nothing new.

But the new fuhrer has Congress in his back pocket and most of them and the media have a nice fresh set of knee pads to use every time they meet up with the savior.

The old fuhrer was a laughing stock, popularity was in the toilet. Actually it was in whereever the stuff in the toilet ends up. He'd probably would have had a hard time passing a resolution to give Congress extra bonsuses in pay.

This new guy will be able to get a lot through and scary part is that since he's proving himself to be willing and wanting to continue most of the current administration's wars and policies and pretty much everything the Democrats thought they were voting against, he's going to have to give his supporters some kind of bone or he'll be run out office on his ass.

My guess is healthcare will be the first bone, but there will have be a few others. Some kind of anti-firearms legislation is a good bet.

Update from AAFES

In my response from them dtd 23 Dec 08,

"I have just been informed by the manager of the Gun Counter that there has been a slight change when buying ammunition. A new prompt has been downloaded by HQ AAFES, asking for additional information when purchasing ammunition and guns...."

In my 2nd response from them, dtd 29 Dec, 2008:

"Although I understand your concern, in regards to the prompt which is now coming up in the registers during ammunition purchases, the issue is being worked, and should be resolved in the near future, where this prompt will no longer come up. It was a human error that this was downloaded and is being worked aggressively to remedy."

Now to this next sentence, my thought was "DAMN SKIPPY IT IS!!" Probably doesn't have a pea-shooter in her house.

"Of course, telling other veterans you know is your prerogative, and we respect your right to do so."

"While I understand your frustration, know that this has been evaluated, and again is being worked to rectify. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions or concerns you may have."

And why this wasn't in the first response.....

Make me crazy, gonna keep my eyes peeled tho'.

And x2 now that this thread was TAINTED, stuff's been coming down the pike for awhile, like limiting the shelf life of reloading powder for example.

Good for you Margie! I've questioned the almighty AAFES on a couple of local issues on a couple of different occassions. Usually, I get a look from those questioned that says, "but we're AAFES! Where else are you going to go?" and end up getting pissed off. We DO have a choice, and they are on installations by PRIVILEDGE!

Please keep us informed as this progresses...

We give them hell about shipping up here; "It's AAFES, and Alaska is part of the United States, so please order it for us." We don't get charged.

I'll let you know what my invoice looks like next time I pick up ammo.

BTW, if you're not satisfied at the counter, then go file your complaint on line; the store manager has to respond to you then.
