The Northwest was pretty crazy over the Christmas vacation.

Our plane was one of the last few allowed to land at Sea-Tac...in about 8 inches of snow...that was pretty crazy...I thought it was funny that a lot of the passengers clapped when we touched down. My thought is that if the airport is still allowing pilots to land, they dang well better have the knowledge and abilitiy to do so.

Anyway... My inlaws have an amazing view of Mt Rainier from their back deck. And the wife's grandparents have an amazing view of Tacoma from their second story. I have to say that Washington is a beautiful place...I love going up there to visit. Too cold and rainy for me to live there though...I love sunny Texas!

My wife and I on her parent's back deck. Cascades in the background...Mt. Rainier is hiding in the clouds and glare.

Me and my wife's older brother went to Crystal Mountain to go snowboarding....it is a mountain at the base of Mt. Rainier.

Base lodge at about 4000 ft.

The day started out nice and sunny and around 25 degrees, but about 1 pm it got really cloudy and started to snow. I think the temp dropped to about 10-15 degrees without windchill. Visibility at the summit was maybe 1000 ft.

What a blast!

Great shots. That place is absolutely beautiful. Looks like you had some fresh pow at Crystal. Perfect for backwoods boarding but not so great riding the lifts back up. <----cold guy.

Ride on!

If the weather is good I see Mt Hood on my way to work as well as St Helens.

The NW can be pretty amazing.

Great shots,

Kevin

The brother inlaw I went riding with lives in Portland. He said that Mt. Hood has snow year round and the ski resort is open year round as well. I will be saving up for a road trip to go visit him and his girl friend some time in '09. Probably toward the end of the year...try to hit up a few different mountains....Oh, if only Texas had some mountains.

Wow! Now that's a view! Is that Mt. Olympia in the background?

Mount St. Helens is just under my upraised arm. I'm going to Olympic National Park in June and might do Mount Olympia then, along with a lot of kayaking. I love the Northwest.
