I've had 5 SWBs and 1 LWB, all 5 spd - so I much prefer the SWB. I can't comment on the AT. The SWB should give you better mileage. It's easier to park. It's easier to back up. It has a much smaller turning radius. It's lots more fun to drive.

The backseat is comfortable, but I wouldn't recommend it for little kids in car seats - long reach.
