Sometimes they fail, and stop working all together. Sometimes they fail, and short partially internally, and overheat. A weak coil will diminish under acceleration, and load. Ive troubleshot a 2.6 raider with this exact problem before. Swapped carb's, and computers, and all other things in between.

I am going to drain my gas tank this weekend and see what comes out. I don't trust my truck to even go to Kevin C's house. I would end up having to drive under 20 mph. Since now I have a glorious minivan, I can take my time on this trouble shooting.


Can't hurt to drain your gas, but i'd put a new coil in it first.

Let us know whatever fixes it.
