Found this gem with only 220k on it...fer only $500. Has the power package and cruise control.

Has a few things wrong with it as it sat fer 2yrs. Just had it towed to the dealer to git the water pump and the timing belt/idler rollers/front seals replaced fer about $1k. I git it back on Friday as they didn't have the water pump in stock.

Since this will be my first 4x4...what should I be looking at fer maintenance? I've already dropped the engine oil out and replaced it as I figured it would be bad just sitting fer 2yrs. Although the oil was pretty black and smelled of gas, there was no water in it. I guess the differentials and transmission are next.

Things I know that needs to be fixed so far:

Needs new tires (current 31x10.5 on 15" alloys)...thinking about swapping out the Yokohama Geolander AT/S LT235/75-15 on the 2WD T-100 before I sell it. Not sure if the 31" tires will fit on there or not.
High beams don't work but they light up in flash mode
Power steering hose and pump are leaking
E-brake seems stiff when pulled
Muffler needs to be replaced
Antenna needs to be replaced
PCV valve needs to be inspected/replaced...with the grommet
Right power mirror frame is broken but the mirror still works
Probably needs an alignment
Probably needs the shocks replaced
Large dent in the left rear quarter panel
Bulbs in the instrument cluster needs to be replaced

Don't have my cable to post up any piccies yet but I will do as soon as I git him with both trucks. Gonna try to tow one with the other...

Change the diffs and transfer case fluids, make sure 4x4 works.

Since the brights dont work properly you will probably have to take the stalk and its switch off and check it out, could be dirty could need a new one.

E-brake - goober up all cables and especially the funky linkage on the rear end.
Antenna - eBay, new, $20 or so.
Alignment - take the VIN to a dealer and ask if the center link has been replaced under warranty. If not, they will do so and realign for free.
Leave dent alone. I had one that was huge but never cracked the paint. Pop it out and it will - rust to follow.
Muffler - watch my post for info.

Piccies of when I dropped it off at the dealership.

They weren't too sure if the center link was done or not so I'll wait until I git it to Houston before I drop by the dealership here.

Got the grill and rock pan put back on without any problems. Put some stop leak into the PS reservoir and it seems to have stopped fer now.

The 4x4 works just fine. It's been rather interesting fer me since this is my first 4x4 vehicle. Just gitting used to a stick again has been rather fun.

I plan on sticking some synthetic gear oil in the diffs and transmission as soon as I git back there.

Center link issue is bs. It is on their computer, worldwide. If they are playing you tell them so and make a complaint to Toyota hq. Either your VIN has been fixed or it has not. They know.

Here are my ideas for 'bang for buck' improvements on the old truck.

There is a little plastic cup on the bottom of the shifter, if you replace it, all the play in the shifter will disappear.

BRAKE FLUID. Completely replace it. Amazing difference.

WRT the center tie rod, the included alignment is only a toe adjustment per the campaign, but you may be able to talk them into a full front end alignment for little to nothing. I completely rebuilt the front end before taking it in for the recall to get the most out of that.
