My latest truck (surprisingly) shipped with a great set of (DOT approved) Geolandar I/T ice and snow tires. 85-90% tread on all four... Through all my trucks, and lots of different tires, I've never had an honest to goodness snow tire before. All I can say is wow! Snow tires, on the road are head and shoulders above ATs for everyday snowy road driving.

For example, I was coming home today, taking secondary roads, and at times I was going through drifts that were bumper height. Now these were not seldom-used backroads, but we did have some fierce winds today, and combined with open prairie and some falling snow (along with what was already on the ground), it was a nasty mess to drive in. But inside the truck... it was quite relaxing. Good braking, excellent traction, and even a few laughs as I busted through the odd snow-drift, that was coming across my lane. Little other traffic, so thankfully I was mostly on my own, but boy did those tires make a hairy commute into a nice evening drive home.

Not sure if I've put more than 2kms on the new truck in 2WD, since I got it. So that makes 1498kms in 4WD, so far. Gotta love winter!
