Long story short a couple of my doors panels got beat up so I bought a matching (but loaded)'89 parts rig for 400.

This weekend I swapped in the leather seats, front ones were kinda beat but after some work with the leather cleaner/conditioner they look fine. Also swapped all the doors over so I now have power windows and leather door panels.
I also installed the bouncy seat base on the passenger side, I just had the cut the rear, inboard mounting tab off, then I just used the existing 4 holes, leaving the rear outboard mount empty.

The windows weren't hard just a pain in the to wire, just followed the FSM.

All in all it looks much better inside, I used to think I liked the all brown look of cloth but I really like how the new tan leather lightens it up.
I'll try to get pics tomorrow.

I like leather. The way I see it, ancient man learned to tan hides, and was all the better for it. A parts rig with leather interior for $400 is cool!

Looks Great but now I have to start looking over here for the leather. Don?t know if it is available over here but yours looks too good not to try.

89montero- i just checked out your ride on your link, looks great. I'll bet the leather really sets the interior off. I also like your wheels alot. What kind of paint did you use and what sort of prep work did you do before painting?

Didn't get a chance to take pics today. It's the 3rd one of seen with leather, the other two were in pics of ones overseas. Didn't know you could even get it in the USA and though even other countries only got it in '91.

About the wheels I used duplicolor, it was called either metallic grey or gunmetal, then used duplicolor clear coat. Both in spray can. They held up really well.
Prep work was just clean thoroughly and sand some light surface rust off. You don't need to cover the tires, the paint won't stick to them, any over spray will be gone after a few miles of driving.

cell pics so not the best but here goes

These panels came with the pockets mounted higher so I didn't have to move them to mount the speaker like the did with the original. Also FYI the metal in the door has a round cutout(nice surprise when I mounted the speakers), did overseas models come stock with door speakers? BTW stock doors were like this too.

If you pull the lever in there the back of the seat tilts forward about half way, maybe so you could get to a third row?

BTW, I recovered the back door and center console with tan vinyl a few years ago and just so happens it matches the leather perfectly and looks great.
