In the process of bringing the new monty up to full operating status there are a number of 'necessities' that I'll need. No, this isn't an 'off-roader' charity thread so if you have what I want, just let me know what you want for it. Of course, if you want to consider me a charity and simply send it to me, that would be great too. TIA!

Owners Manual
Just getting to know my rig better is all. I've already gotten the FSM but want the owners manual(s) as well if anyone has it. If you have a pdf of it, that would be excellent as well.

I checked ebay and there's one I'm gonna bid on (on the final day) and another that some fool wants $119 for.

longer rear coils
I know there's valley but I'm not too keen on their products as I've had a bad experience with them before. What else is everyone running? Does Iron Man make a set for the Gen II monty? ARB? Yes, I've searched but it didn't come up with anything too conclusive unlike the gen I's (putting Gen II's in them).

timing belt / belts / pulleys / tensioner
Who's got the cherry price on a good quality timing belt/waterpump kit?

March 6, 2009: Front and rear tube bumpers and new roof rack Documented here.
April 30, 2009: Repaired my main starter wire coming from the battery. The terminal end on the battery was so badly corroded I had to remove 4+ inches of cable to get to good cancer/corrosion free wire. Documented here.
May 4, 2009 Repainted my rusting window sills and created a camera hard mount. Documented here.
August 28, 2009 Had a bit of liposuction on the rear end and had some extra fat removed. Documented here.
August 29, 2009 Replaced burnt out bulbs in my instrument cluster ([D] tranny 'drive' light, etc.). Documented here.
September 12, 2009: Mounted my HiLift to my Roof Rack for a few $$$. Documented here.
October 7, 2009: Built and installed a storage system & sleeping platform in back for ~$75. Documented here.
Jan 6, 2010: Ordered 78" Tacoma sliders from Trail-Gear.com including their gusset kit for $210 (subtotal, tax, & shipping). Installing in the next couple of weeks. Will have complete documentation here.
March 7, 2010: Installed Hella 700ff lights on bumper's upper light perches & extra 12v power plug in center console. Documented here.
June 26, 2010: Raised the fuel tank mounts +3" and mounted up a new fuel tank sans brush plate since I'll be fabbing up a new beefier skid plate in its place. Documented here.

November 13, 2010: Replaced faulty ignition switch. Documented here.
November 17, 2010: Replaced faulty brake pedal switch. Documented here.
May 22, 2011: Installed coil spring spacers & removed anti-sway bars. Documented here.
August 10, 2011: Upgraded bumper with custom winch plate and installed MileMarker SEC12000 electric winch. Documented here.
August 17, 2011: Installed custom ipad mounting plate for RAM ipad mount along with a Dual xgps150 ipad compatible bluetooth gps. Documented here.
October 1, 2011: Moved 1 of the 2 gas can holders from the roof rack to the bed while still retaining the ability to use it as a bed. Documented here.
June 2012: Installed 3.15:1 transfer case gears. Documented here.
July 20, 2012 Installed Euro Spec rear tail lights. Yay, I have reverse lights now which lost when I upgraded to an aftermarket bumper since US Spec Gen II's only have reverse lights in the bumper rather than the tail light housing.
Still to be built & installed...

All that junk is expensive... but when I was doing my Monty SR, I found the best price to be at Autozone Gates timing belt online for $55 The waterpump will rape you anyway you look at it. Advance auto will tell you the Montero SR didn't come with a 3.5 but I think they had the cheapest index on the waterpump that I had to cross refrence the part number found from Autozone.

Maybe a start for you but I had alot of fun rebuilding the top end of the SR I worked on 2 years ago.. I can't believe its been 2 years. I've become almost an expert after how many times I had to tear the top end apart on that truck to fix coolant leak problems.. Want to fly me out for a weekend?

I have OME #910. These were designed for Gen 2s and M.S.s.
OME 911 is a stiffer , little taller spring.

Look on "Rocky Roads" site for application chart and prices. That's where I bought mine.

I think I may have an owners manual. I'll look around and let you know.

I've been running 2" rear coil spacers with the Stock springs for about 6 years now. Works great nice ride with the extra 2" helps keep the gas tank out of the rocks.

I pitched a owners manual set, in the pouch, even had the factory tire info card. You would not have wanted it anyway, it looked like someone had opened up the glove box and puked in it!

Try Parts Train for the belt kit stuff. The tensioner is another pricy part, may not come with the kit. I reused one, had to compress it with a vice to pin it back. I would replace it if I wasn't so cheep

I'm back in the bay area, have the next few weekends open if ya need a hand.

Are these the ones you fab'ed up a year or so ago? I may go this route too if they're easily available otherwise I may go the ARB/Ironman route. Last option would be the Valleys for me.

7 years?!? LOL, sorry. You know what they say with age... time flies faster. I'm getting there I guess. Of course it doesn't help that my memory doesn't work like others... well sometimes it just doesn't work period.

And I forget you've been away on a couple of tours since you made yours.

Anyhow thanks for the offer.

Hi Ray,
I buy the timing belts for these from the dealer, the DOHC Mitsu engines are tough on the timing belt, the 6 cylinder less so than the 4s are but I have seen my share of 40K belt failures. A Conti brand belt has been the shortest lived belt so far.
The SOHC engines I will run any brand belt though.

Cheers, Charlie
