My wife's '95LS wouldn't start for her this morning, and she's really upset with me (it's my fault, you know. :-D). When we test drove this thing 10 years ago, the owners said the key had to be twisted forwar fast, and push forward at the end of the turn to get it to start. It was a little tricky, but I got the hang of it pretty quick. They paid to have it replaced when we bought it. A few years later, it started doing it again, and I ordered the part and put it in myself. I can't remember what part it was, but remember that it included the ring that lights up around the key hole. Can someone please tell me what part # that is? I'd like to order it NOW (to calm the woman), and get it replaced as soon as possible. THANKS!!!!

Using Bill's VIN, the lock cylinder with keys is P/N MR153677 and the electrical part of the switch is P/N MB903639. Might not be a bad idea to replace both pieces...

Hope that helps <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

JA4MR41H1SJ004519 is mine...if you wouldn't mind double checking. I sure appreciate the help guys. You guys know how mechanically inept I am, do you think it would be much harder to replace the key part as well? Then we'd have to use two keys for the car, right?

It is different. Your P/N is MB953220, but it may have superceded to MB888092. Not sure, but it has that P/N underneath with RP out to the side of it. The electrical portion is the same, however.

Glad to help <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

A locksmith should be able to reset the cylinder to your old key. Maybe even the stealer if you get from a local one.

I'm going to check on the cost of locksmith reset, thanks Bill.

Hazy, I tried to order that part from mitsubishiparts.net and it said part not found, but it DID have the part you thought was the newer #. I tried calling them, but they don't list an option for Mitsu parts...I'm waiting for a call back. They always treated me great there...has anything change at that site?

Thanks again for the help guys.

I'm having problems with them right now. They've taken forever to return correspondence. I've since told them to cancel my order and gone thru Rick Case out of Duluth, Ga. Brian and Jeff really hooked me up on the pricing, too...

Rick case is good for you? The one hear was an ass years ago and I haven't been back. That was for a new car.

Then again, my original local stealer whom I held in high regard dumped on me once the big money was done being spent on the SWB. I was getting whole from him in the end.

Maybe I'll try the local Rick Case and do some schmoozing and name dropping...
